edit:
damnit.. that's...honest.
I'm kinda speechless.
haven't "heard" him that honest and open yet.
Jonne in an interview:
By the way, about Christus. His discharging was a shock for many fans. And you, by the way, for a long time haven`t been explaining the reasons, why it turned out like that.
- But how can I explain it? First of all, it`s a very private subject, I can't easily just tell all the things as they are. You know..., he was really a huge problem for us. Maybe he was a great guitarist but in the band he was a stranger, he always lived his own life, kinda separately from the others. Of course, I feel sorry that it turned out like that, but it`s a cruel business and we could not force him to get on stage every time, persuade, ask, put up with his tricks. So there`s nothing to do with feelings here... damn. Let`s stop talking about it.
Ok, it seems to be indeed a private topic.
- Yes. One day I will write a song about it, when the time is come.
A song? But you have just declared that music for you is a cruel business, and now you are confessing that are ready to share your inmost feelings.
- What has it got to do with business... my songs are my true feelings, I always write only about what I really go through. And I like to write it sincerely... But hell, sometimes it's so hard! It's like cutting myself with a sharp blade to reveal your deep emotions...
Though, on the other hand, some of my songs have totally different meaning, it`s you know, like mighty sex that you just had, it`s the same burst of emotions but with the absoletely different sensations!
Really? You are not kidding?
- What jokes... It's my heaviest sin, I can`t imagine my life without this all, without temptations, without innermost emotional experience, without lingering minutes of love. My songs are a diary of my real life. Let those, who listen to them, know who I am, I have nothing to hide! edit2 (i hate to edit my posts all the time
could someone pls write smth?
)
this could be quite interesting too..
Jonne and the songs on Karma Killer:
A Devil On My Shoulder
– The songs working title was Peer Günt, 'cause it has this Backseat-riff on the background. The lyrics also have this "years on the road" -feeling. Years leave a mark. On the other hand this is a kind of rock 'n' roll-prayer. "Hear me pray" and so on. At first we were planning to make this as the title of the album aswell, until we came up with the "Karma Killer." Killing the bad karma fits into the bands situation at the moment.
Sealed
– Digged up from the demos of Larry's former band. This has the same feeling as the "After All." Larry told me to put in the lyrics the words sorrow and pain. Now they're in there, but the feeling of the song is quite happy and hopeful.
Won't Let Go
– The lyrics tell about hardiness. Or about a relationship where the other half is thinking about wheather he / she can give everything from him- / herself. Even though doing that gives you the most euphoric feeling. This ended up as the first single, but the two earlier songs were considered too. This has a safe and familiar feeling with some new winds blowing aswell. The chorus has many meanings and in the bridges you can hear the influence from the "Agents" and Tarantino movies.
Motherfucker (Just Like You)
– You can hear Zeppelin-screams on the background! The song has hard riffs and the bridge has this "Welcome To The Jungle"-feeling. The basis of the song was Aerosmith, but in the studio we ended in the way Guns 'n' Roses.
Giving Up!
– The song and the singing has new things. Disco-comp and heavy riffs. We told Mikko not to scrimp with the guitar barriers. Hard 'n' heavy but not quite "Kotiteollisuus." The lyrics are a clear cross-section from the feelings lately, but in the spirit of "let there be light and a better future." Giving Up! means that now the past is left behind.
An Ornament
– The chorus was made in the childrens home in Raholan perhetukikeskuksessa in the 90's. Lyrics have the hope of a depressed person and a message to "accept me as I am." Bittersweet athmosphere. When you listen to this on a rainy summer night... The song ends in a war drum that reminds me about "Lost Soul" on our debut album.
Dead As We
– The last song made. I wrote a new song part into this because of Mikko's demand. Now the song parts have a little of HIM-feeling. This could be from "Sweet & Deceitful." The lyrics tell about Avril Lavigne trying to stone me in the EMA-gala. Or not.
Anna Simona
– Song about maybe the toughness of fighting against your desires. This is about Negative's italian fans Anna and Simona. This is kind of epic, for example the string instruments. The feeling lead to the Muse's song "Feeling Good."
Lust N' Needs
– This has the Double Talkin' Jive-feeling from the Guns 'n' Roses. If we have been slipping in the earlier songs, now it goes completely out of hands. The rock-parts and the midtempos are in good balance on this album.
Gravity Of Love
– Larry got the idea for this song in the time of "Anorectic." This was meant to be adapted as a rock-song. but I suggested a more ballad-like approach. In the end it was made half-accidentally. Larry's solo is out of this world!
